Truck Mounted Forklifts - Save A Little This Way

A truck mounted forklift sounds like a machine that is operable from a truck. However, that would not be very convenient. The truck mounted forklift is actually quiet useful for transporting your forklift to and from worksites. It can easily be mounted on the back of your truck and can be unloaded in a mere 60 second.

The advantage of these machines is that they can get into places that the truck cannot. For instance, if an 18-wheeler delivers your supplies to a very small work area, the forklift then comes in. That is why they are used in industries related to lumber, brick, paving, building material suppliers, sod and landscape. Another advantage is that before the truck mounted forklift, the speed of a task was in the hands of a separate crew who had to bring and unload a forklift. Now it is the truck driver's job and he brings this equipment along with the shipment to be unloaded; no more waiting.

The truck mounted forklifts are slightly different than the average warehouse forklift. To begin, they are all-terrain, bearing slightly larger tires with a very big tread. They include traction lock and transport tie down brackets for easy truck mounting. Some, like from the Manitransit company, include a crane for even more efficient unloading from the truck.

Companies like Piggy Back by Princeton delivery systems and Moffett are the leading names in truck mounted forklifts, Moffett-Kooi invented this forklift about forty years ago. They started with an idea to help deliver tulip bulbs to Dutch farmers. From there, a revolution began.

The truck mounted forklift is up to par with regular forklifts. They can lift up to 17,000 pounds and the models vary for different jobs. They typically have hydraulic lifts and are telescopic. These will cost you about the same price as a new, high quality forklift: about $40,000 but then again, there are used ones out there for sale. A used one can run between $15,000 and $25,000 but the money would be worth it if this fits your type of business.
